Halverson Construction Co., Inc. recognizes the following highly skilled and dedicated leaders, for their contributions to our success:

Vern founded the company in 1978, after 28 years of construction experience as a surveyor, layout engineer, superintendent, estimator and project manager. Vern spent 16 years as a project manager on many large-scale road and bridge projects with S. J. Groves & Sons, prior to starting his company.
As Chairman of the Board, Vern manages the company's strategic planning efforts, and assists the project teams with solving interesting challenges in the field.

After starting his career as a laborer in the field and a project manager on large-scale bridge projects, Steve was elected President in 2002. As company president, Steve manages the operations of all of the company's activities and provides leadership necessary to maintain Halverson as one of the leading construction company's for Heavy / Highway and commercial building construction.
Steve also works closely with project teams to provide engineering assistance and his experience to project challenges. Steve also serves the AGC of Illinois as an officer and business leader.

Mary assisted Vern with running the business side of the company in the early years.
As Vice President, Mary is responsible for administering the accounts payables and receivables portion of the business, as well as the corporate administration.

Larry is responsible for estimating operations for all Heavy / Highway projects. In addition to these duties, Larry assists with administering bonding and insurance requirements for the business. He also serves as project manager for some larger bridge rehabilitation projects, and continually assists the project managers using his analytical skills to find engineering solutions to project challenges. Larry brings over 32 years of industry experience and professionalism to the organization.

In 2003, Joe was hired to start-up the commercial construction division at Halverson. Joe is responsible for business development, estimating and overall management for this part of the business. His 40 years of experience as a carpenter, superintendent, small business owner, project manager and vice-president of construction operations provides Halverson with the solid foundation up which we have built this part of the company over the past few years.

Mike started with Halverson in 2004, after more than 30 years of experience as an ironworker, superintendent and project manager. Mike provides estimating and project management for structural & miscellaneous steel operations, metal building projects, precast erection, industrial moving and tilt-up concrete. Mike is certified as a welding inspector by AWS and in tilt-up concrete by ACI.

Kyle started with Halverson in 1991, working as a laborer in our shop. After college, Kyle joined the company full-time as a project manager and superintendent on a large-scale bridge rehabilitation project near Mt. Vernon, IL. Kyle also has extensive experience as a project manager on some significant roadway and airport projects and is trained in utilizing the GPS earthwork technology. In addition his role as project manager, Kyle oversees the Slipforming and Grooving subcontract operations.

Joel started working for Halverson in 2001 as a shop laborer, building forms and preparing materials for jobsites. After college, Joel came back to work with us as a project manager working on a Heavy / Highway bridge and roadway project in Peoria,IL. Since Joel has joined our team he has worked on a handful of projects as a project manager and a superintendent. Joel utilizes his skills and experience to initiate new ideas for planning and managing projects in the field.

Deniz recently joined our firm, after 9 years with another local General Contractor. He has an extensive and diverse background, having spent 6 years in the U.S. Navy as an electrician onboard a submarine. After active duty, Deniz received a civil engineering degree. He worked in Chicago, before relocating to Springfield.
Deniz continues to serve his country with over 21 years total service, and is currently assigned to a construction battalion, as a civil engineer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Deniz has planned and overseen multiple construction projects overseas, both in Europe and The Middle East. In addition to his role as Project Manager with Halverson, Deniz also monitors estimates for the Commercial Construction Division.
