University of Illinois :: Newmark Lab Reaction Wall

Construction of a 28 foot tall, 5 foot thick post-tensioned concrete reaction wall inside the Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory Crane Bay. The project used over 400 cubic yards of self-consolidating concrete, 50 tons of reinforcing steel, and 810 pipe sleeves, all constructed to a tolerance of 1/8” in order to accommodate specialized research equipment for earthquake testing.
