Bridge construction and rehabilitation is our core business at Halverson Construction Co., Inc. After nearly three decades in this industry, we have become one of the Midwest's leaders in bridge construction and rehabilitation for highway, railroad and major river bridges.

Bituminous surface removal, concrete overlay replacement, and substructure repairs to the 28 span bridge. Devised deck pour sequence to minimize lane closure time for major bypass bridge.

Rehabilitation of the 37-span, 3,600 foot long bridge carrying US 24 eastbound over the Mississippi River at Quincy, Illinois. The project consisted of: 40 tons of structural steel repairs in the truss spans over the river channel; steel replacement in the approach spans; new bridge deck wearing surface; substructure repairs; new roadway and navigation lighting; and cleaning & painting. General Contractor.

Rehabilitation of the McKinley Bridge. Replaced the timber deck with a reinforced concrete deck and bituminous overlay on the bridge deck and approaches. Removal of steel grating decking system, substructure repairs. Bi-monthly partner meetings with IDOT, City and Halverson engineers. Electronic transmission of photos to structural engineers to facilitate additional steel repair — beyond original scope of work. Completed project on schedule, after adding 10% additional work to the project with additional steel repairs.

Reconstruction and rehabilitation of the McKinley Bridge, from Ninth Street in St. Louis, Missouri, to Bremen Avenue in Venice, Illinois. The project consists of: removal and replacement of the east and west approach spans; structural steel repairs and replacement in the truss spans over the river; pavement milling and resurfacing; removal of the toll plaza; guardrail replacement; new roadway and navigation lighting. General Contractor.

Removal and replacement of existing superstructure; partial and complete removal and replacement of existing substructure; and complete parapet and deck replacement.
Bi-monthly partnering with IDOT engineers and field personnel. Emergency repair of adjacent structure using double shifts to complete the repair ahead of schedule and maintain the overall project completion date. Worked through winter months to complete the project. (A joint venture with Midwest Foundation Corp).

Construction of the reinforced concrete deck and painting of the structural steel on the East Bound Interstate 255 Bridge. (Joint Venture with Midwest Foundation Corp.) Submitted a revised deck pour sequence with structural calculations to expedite the project and open the roadway ahead of schedule.

Construction of temporary support systems, and the removal and replacement of the pins and links plates. Use of an innovative temporary support design to lower the project costs, and complete the work ahead of schedule.
